The Racketeer Gin | Spiced

One sip of Racketeer’s Verbena Gin, and I swear I time-traveled. Suddenly, it’s the 70s (or maybe early 80s—I refuse to confirm), and I’m barefoot on a scorching-hot driveway, sucking on a lemon ice block while the garden hose sprays my ankles. Then, I’m in my 20s, at a summer BBQ, clutching a gin and tonic and pretending I know how to cook sausages properly. And now? Well, I’m over 50, and I’ve got this in my glass, wondering why I ever wasted time drinking anything else.

This gin is zesty, refreshing, and outrageously drinkable. It’s got lemony brightness, a whisper of herbs, and just enough bite to remind you that you’re an adult now (even if your taste buds still think they’re 21). It’s like a G&T and a Mediterranean holiday had a very classy lovechild.

Fair warning: You will take a sip and immediately regret not ordering a bigger bottle. Highly recommend—just don’t be surprised if you suddenly feel the urge to buy a pair of jandals and make a mixtape. 🍋🍸😆

Well, that was a mistake.

I thought I was being sensible by ordering the small bottles of Racketeer’s Verbena Gin (200ml) and Blackcurrant Gin (375ml)—you know, just a wee sample to see if I’d like them. HA! What a rookie move. Large bottles only from now on. Scratch that—just hook me up with a bathtub full.

The Verbena Gin? Oh my goodness. It’s fresh, zesty, and sophisticated—like a posh, lemony whisper that somehow slaps you in the best way. It’s got that herbal edge that makes you feel like you’re drinking something refined, while also being dangerously easy to sip.

And the Blackcurrant Gin? Excuse me, but who gave Ribena permission to grow up and become an absolute legend? Tart, juicy, and perfectly balanced between sweet and tangy—it’s the kind of drink that starts as a “just one small glass” and ends with you trying to lick the inside of the bottle. (Not that I did that… or did I?)

Lesson learned: Next time, I’m ordering in bulk. Racketeer, you magnificent geniuses, take my money and keep the gin flowing.

Just finished the plum gin from a small 3 pack and this is another favourite now. Yet to try the raspberry and the sloe and peach

Extremely tasty gin. I was not previously a gin drinker but this has converted me. It's very refreshing. I love it!

Got a bottle of Racketeer spiced gin at the Auckland Gin expo and absolutely loved it!! I have it with dry ginger ale and a slice of lime

Loved this gin. I created a sweet and zesty mix with this using lime mint and a bit of elderflower. This bottle was arrived just in time for my midwinter potluck and was gone before we started eating 🤣💀 was a delicious little 🤜

I loooove this gin. I first tried it at Gindulgence in Auckland where it was used in an apple crumble cocktail. It was so good (I was luckily able to take some syrups home with me too) I recreated it for my friends during a midwinter potluck and they still talk about how it tasted like Christmas! Favourite gin so far
